Summer also. I always loved it when school was out. My favorite part was sleeping out on the trampoline, walking barefoot the "Spa" and smushing the tar between my toes. It felt so good on a hot day and I would jump from crack to crack smushing the tar. I loved playing capture the flag, kick the can, sardines, etc and and staying up late. I loved that there was no schedule. As I got older, I loved running in the rain in the summertime. The smell of the rain and the heat rising off the cooling cement. Those are some of my favorite things about summer.

"Summer," "happy," and "relaxed" are not words that I would associate when talking about our family. Maybe you say I am being critical, but I really don't think that our family vacations fit those words.

But definitely, as I consider the more meaty part of the summer, such words are great for our home life. Last summer Andrew, Michael, Jon, and I did relax to the extreme--played soccer and Smash Brothers (Nintendo 64) every night.

But, that might not fit those words either, as I think about it more. Each of those two activities usually included a family dispute followed by swearing. We aren't a swearing family, but that seemed to bring it out of us quite nicely.

Anyway, I love the winter. I used to sleep in the basement alone and never was my room heated. I think that I just need to open the vents but was too lazy to do so. But maybe I just loved reading books under the several layers of sleeping bags I had pulled from the hall closet while my hand, the only protruding part of my body, turned to ice.

I would say that my favorite seasons are Spring and Fall. In the spring, the weather is perfect and you've just finished the cold winter (which is my least favorite season). I like the fall because of the changing colors of the leaves, you get some relief from the heat of the summer, and there is a different kind of feeling in the fall. I also love the holidays and the family get-togethers in the fall.
